What are those numbers you ask? What is the significance of 70 and 35? Well, let me tell ya. At her last pediatrician appointment (the 6 month well check) Clare was in the 70% for height (26.3 inches) and the 35% for weight (15.04 lbs). She’s still a long skinny little thing, but J reminded me that she was at the 25% for weight at her 4 month check so she’s gaining ground. Grow baby girl grow!
As far as growing goes, Clare seems to show no signs that she really wants to eat solid foods. She prefers being nursed, thank you very much, but will take a bottle if she has to (which she often does). We’ve had a few sessions where she ate a little bit of applesauce and yesterday she chewed on an avocado a little bit, but besides that food is met with clenched lips and a shaking head.
She’s beginning to put together consonants and syllables with her talking. Our hearts have skipped a beat since Clare has said Mama and Dada – though along with streams of babble that include baba, gaga, bloo and assorted other sounds. In fact, the first time she said Dada she was looking at the dog – interpret that as you want 🙂
I’m pretty tired tonight so I’ll keep this short. Last week I flew to and from San Francisco in a day (a looooong day) and tomorrow I’m driving to Seattle and back. Ahh, the trials and tribulations of the working mommy. It’s worth a long day not to be away from my baby girl over night yet. Though, Clare isn’t sleeping well these days so a whole, uninterrupted night alone in a hotel room does sound pretty good.
