We’re back from a lovely long weekend in Bend with our friends Steve and Leah. Family trips, especially two families together, are hectic. Dinner with 4 adults and 4 kids under the age of 4 is crazy – Sammy trying to feed baby Henry cheerios, Clare and Grayson alternating climbing under the table, multiple trips to the bathroom, spilled margaritas – Steve and I looked at each other and said “do you remember when going out to dinner was fun?” But, chaos aside, it was fun. It was three-year-old dance parties, drooly baby smiles, great meals with good friends, commiserating over parenting challenges, and beautiful fall colors.

Clare and J love climbing on the rocks near the River House. Clare has been calling some of them “Grandpa” and “Grandma” Rocks for a while. This time she looked at a big outcropping and said “Oh good! Here is my Rock Family!”
This was her Cave with Lions in it – fortunately they were friendly lions.
